30 Years of Bear Flags in Placerville, CA

According to the Native Daughters of the Golden West’s California Star newsletter(Winter 2006), for over 30 years prior to 2006, the Marguerite Parlor No. 12 of the NDGW posted California Bear Flags along Highway 50 in Placerville, CA on September 9th of each year to celebrate California Admission Day. Highway 50 is one of the two main highways from Sacramento to the Lake Tahoe area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Bear Flag displays ended in 2006 due to highway changes and increased traffic. Oh, darn! Sometimes ol' Cuffy just can't get any respect. Posted by Bear Flag Museum at 7:42 AM
