A golden stone
glittered in the sun, and the history of the West, the lives of millions and the
economy of the world was changed forever. Coloma began with the discovery of
gold in 1848, which started the greatest tidal wave of human movement every
known-the California gold rush!
Coloma’s greatest natural resource was once gold. Now it is the natural beauty
and outdoor recreation opportunities that make Coloma and Coloma Resort a rich
and rewarding stay for visitors.
Coloma Resort, located in the heart of Gold Country on the banks of the American River, combines the best of scenic, historic and sporting resources. Adjacent to the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, Coloma Resort provides nearly one mile of river frontage camping along the south fork of the American River.
We have attempted to preserve the natural and primitive beauty of the area while providing a resort atmosphere and amenities that will please tent, trailer or motor home campers. In addition to our camping amenities, we offer facilities (including lodging and on site catering) for group events such as schools, business retreats and team building, church retreats, or family reunions.
