History The reawakening of Fair Play as a wine growing region didn't really
occur until the planting of an experimental vineyard on Ben Simm's Diamond Bar
Ranch in 1967. By studying the trial vineyard, it was determined, that among
others, but most notable, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Sauvignon
Blanc, and Chardonnay could be expected to produce excellent dry table wines in
the Fair Play region.

Fitzpatrick Winery & Lodge

Barkley Historic Homestead
8221 Stoney Creek Road 530-620-3467 The Main House, a 3000 sq ft lodge, was
built in 1915. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, gives
background to it's turn of the century charm and pioneering spirit. The Lake
House, was built long after the main house and boasts it's own history &
charm. The house can be rented as a package, or two of the rooms adjoin.

We specialize in Rhone varietals,
Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Cedarville Vineyard is located in a small
Gold Rush era community called Fair Play, in south El Dorado County in
the Sierra Foothills. All of our wines are hand-crafted in small lots
entirely from our estate vineyard at 2500 ft. elevation. We strive to
create ripe, fully flavored wines that express our unique mountain
terroir. Production is very limited. Our wines are available primarily
through our mailing
