The
Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado County Western Slope hosted their eighth
annual Recognition Dinner at Cold Springs Country Club. Board members Jim
Carter (Carter-Kelly Construction) and Gordon Vicini (Vicini Construction) acted
as MC's for the awards ceremony.
Dear Friends,
If you could not attend our Recognition Dinner last night, you missed a wonderful and moving evening. I saw many tears when Jim was honoring Dennis (it was difficult through my own tears). Everyone was wiping away tears when Dave Brazelton was talking about his experience in the Boys & Girl Club as he accepted his Big Heart of the Year Award (how appropriate). I don't have to say anything about our two MC's what a team! I think maybe they really are identical twins (inside joke, you had to be there last night). Thank you Gordon and Jim for sharing with us your unique sense of humor's. Speaking of a unique sense of humor, Bob Edwards did it again when writing up the Volunteer of Year Award headlines for Renee and Jim, it was perfect. Renee and Jim were surprised and well deserving of the honor.
You should have seen the
entertainment from the kids. The entertainment gets better every year. This
truly reflects on the terrific staff we have. It was said many times
"one of the main reasons the Boys & Girls Club is successful is due
to the staff". The Awards Dinner Committee, Joan, and her Staff did
a great job of creating the awards and many other tasks to make the event
memorable. The miniature Armory sign for Sgt. Douglas and of course the
gigantic pot for the Three Italians were big hits. Thanks to Sherri and Cris
for taking pictures and then posting the shots on their website at http://www.placerville.info
After the last center piece was picked up, I looked around the room and reflected how fortunate I am to be involved with an organization that makes a difference in the lives of children everyday. Hope all of you plan to attend next November.
Take Care,
Ginger
Recognition Dinner Chairperson
Eleven years ago a group of concerned
and dedicated people decided something needed to be done for the young people on
the western slope of El Dorado County. They wanted a safe place and the best
programs available so they searched for the organization with the greatest track
record serving children. As leaders in youth development, our
vision is to make available to every young person the opportunity to experience
and participate in the programs and activities at the Club, where members
say
“Our Place, Our Present, Our Future.”
