Candidate has heart surgery

Al Manard, a candidate for the Georgetown Divide Public Utility District board of directors, recently had heart bypass surgery after suffering a mild heart attack, according to a news release issued Sunday by his campaign.

Manard's wife, Bonnie, reported that he is recovering well and remains in the race for director seat 2.

Manard, a Greenwood resident, is running against incumbent Bob Diekon of Cool.
