Pink Peace Protesters turn Violent on Placerville Drive.
Recently we have seen many supporters of Democrat Charlie Brown in the area. I have stopped to talk to some of them and asked them where they lived, as I have heard that they were being trucked in from places like Fresno. I'm all for political discourse, but I am disturbed when local elections are influenced by those that have no local connection and no understanding of local dynamics.
For example, when I am told that Doolittle has done nothing for the area and
I ask about Sly Park, Gold Bug Park, the new freeway improvements between
downtown and Placerville drive, or any other of the millions of federal dollars
that Doolittle has championed for our local area, I am surprised when these
activist don't know what I am talking about. But why would they? They
don't live or work in our area.
After all, what do I know about Fresno, or
Berkeley, local issues? I admit that I am ignorant about these
issues!
But I do know this, I'm not going to their towns to tell them that their politicians should be replaced. How arrogant it would be for me to be so presumptuous. But, this is a different standard then some of our recent "visitors" like Ms. Sam Joi.
One
recent visitor to Placerville and So. Lake Tahoe is Sam Joi, a Code Pink
advocate that is telling us how we should vote. Telling us why Charlie
Brown (a Code Pink supporter) is a better choice then our long-time advocate,
John Doolittle. I know that Doolittle has been doing a fine job as an advocate for Placerville and El Dorado County. I guess that Sam's problem with him is
that he is not a far leftwing politician pushing a radical agenda. I have
seen the political campaign material explaining that Charlie Brown is a
moderate. But I have found out from people like Joi that he is really much
more supportive of her agenda then we see on TV or in print.
To what kind of agenda is Ms. Joi alluding? Here is how she describes her stands on issues and why she is stumping for Charlie Brown.
"About Me: Name:sam joi, Location:berkeley, california, United States
i'm a 56 yr old jewish lesbian mother striving radical womonist/feminist; mother of a young amazon healer & amazing human being, lover of wimmin & student of consicous living............even tho i am the one actually driving the truck, i could not even head out from home if it were not for the support of many, many, many wimmin (and several men as well). If you want to help support my trip across the country, spreading codepink, registering voters, working to DEFEAT BUSH ... Today we plan to take WITS to Pleasanton & Laura Bush's appearance again. Then we are off to the Sierras and Auburn & Charlie Brown's Town Hall Meeting."
I appreciate that Ms. Sam is up front about who she
is and only wish that Charlie Brown was as forthright. I am glad that she
is helping Mr. Brown "clarify" his positions, but when it comes to who
I should vote for, I'll stand with the man that stands with El Dorado County
and the standards of it's citizens, and that is John Doolittle.
I still don't know who these people are.
Are they our friends and neighbors?
Is Rep. Nancy Pelosi's multimillion-dollar fundraising battle intended to produce a Democratic House majority by shipping in San Francisco liberals to "Swing the Vote"?
Today
at Denny's a group of Code Pink activist forced their way into a private
luncheon hosted by the Republican Women of El Dorado County. When asked to
leave they refused and had to be escorted out. While yelling about
brutality (as protesters often do) they did trip the Manager of Denny's while
she was trying to serve Lunch.
The irony of "Peace" activist becoming violent protesters was not lost. Once the uninvited guests were removed, peace was restored.
Whomever you support, please vote on Tuesday.
