EDC CAO Report 9-11-07

This is the weekly report by the Chief Administrative Officer to the Board of Supervisors. This report provides information on issues affecting the County and the progress of County activities.

Web Task Force
The Information Technologies Department has convened a county-wide web task force to identify and prioritize recommendations for the county?s website. The task force is currently working on recommendations regarding county and special interest URL?s, and is developing appropriate policies and procedures to guide special URL usage.

Metro Pulse
On September 7, the Office of Economic Development convened a Strategic Partners Meeting for Metro Pulse, the county?s new business retention and expansion tool. The meeting drew 26 individuals from multiple economic development organizations including Chambers of Commerce, workforce development groups, the early care and education sector and local small business service providers. An outcome of the meeting was the establishment of a steering committee for the planning and implementation of a systematic business visitation outreach program.

League of Cities Award
The League of California Cities has selected the cities of Folsom and Rancho Cordova and counties of Sacramento and El Dorado as a 2007 Helen Putnam Award of Excellence for the Highway 50 Mobility Partnership. The 2007 award winners were honored last week during the League?s annual conference at the Sacramento Convention Center. The Helen Putnam Award of Excellence program recognizes outstanding cities and participating counties that deliver the highest quality level of service in the most effective manner possible.

DOT Task Orders
At its March 20 meeting, the Board directed that I review all Department of Transportation task orders over $100,000 but not exceeding $250,000. Attached to this report is task order amendment issued to Nichols Consulting Engineers, Chtd., in the amount of $126,894 for the Environmental Assessment Stage of the Christmas Valley Phase 2 Erosion Control Project.
