A car flipped after a chase early Tuesday morning, shutting down a Highway 50 onramp for a while and hospitalizing two suspects.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office got a call just before 2:30 a.m. about a vehicle burglary in El Dorado Hills. The caller said two men broke the vehicle's window and took items from inside.
The caller followed the suspects' vehicle onto Highway 50 and into Sacramento County, a release from the sheriff's office said. They got off at Sunrise Boulevard, drove down several side streets and then tried to get back onto Highway 50.
At the onramp, the driver lost control and rolled down an embankment, deputies said.
Both suspects had to be hospitalized for moderate to major injuries. Neither person's name was released, and it's unclear why the vehicle crashed.
The sheriff's office said several stolen items were found in the vehicle.
