POLLOCK PINES, Calif. - An El Dorado couple trying to surprise their children with snow for Christmas ended up receiving a surprise of their own when their pickup truck became stranded. The parents set out on Christmas Eve to haul some snow to their front yard.
But their truck got stuck and their cell phone service failed.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter spotted them near Pollock Pines early Christmas morning.

Stranded parent Sherry Dulaney said the truck sank into the snow all the way up to the frame.
In the end, the parents were able to return home safely, complete with a load of snow.
The parents' children were still in their pajamas waiting to open gifts when the parents arrived.
