EID Director George Wheeldon celebrates his re-election with friends at the Elks Lodge in Shingle Springs as the results are announced.  In the El Dorado Irrigation District Division 4 race, incumbent George Wheeldon outpolled Don Nicodemus, 65.5 percent to 34.4 percent.

In an apparent upset that came down to the wire, Norma Santiago edged out Dennis Crabb by 168 votes late Tuesday to win the El Dorado County District 5 Supervisor race.   This election only affects the fulfilling of Dave Solaro’s last year in office.  Crabb said He did not rule out a second run in June.  MORE

Voters have given thumbs down to turning the bedrooom community of El Dorado Hills into El Dorado County's largest city. Measure P asked voters to approve incorporation of the fast-growing foothills community of 33,000. The issue lost 43 percent to 57 percent.  MORE

To raise money for the El Dorado County Library by a parcel tax, ballot Measure L failed to gain a two-thirds, super majority vote. “Yes” votes outnumbered “no” votes, by 55.3 percent to 44.6 percent, failing to make the required two-thirds. Measure U to fund improvements in the Latrobe School District failed to gain a required 55-percent vote. “Yes” votes outnumbered “no” votes by a margin of 52.7 percent to 47.2 percent.

The South Lake Tahoe backed Measure R was soundly defeated with 54 percent of the voters saying no.  Supporters of two ballot measures that would at least double the annual snow removal parcel fee to pay for replacing equipment were disappointed by election returns Tuesday, as both measures were defeated.  MORE
