A lack of affordable housing for farmworkers is a drawback to expanding El Dorado County's $58 million agricultural industry, ag interests complain.
Representatives of the agricultural community say the local industry struggles to attract employees and would be hard-pressed to house the needed work force.
According to the 2006 El Dorado County crop report, prepared by the county's Agriculture Department, the county's gross crop value for 2006 was $58.8 million.
