Fire Damages Progress House in Garden Valley

A fire Thursday morning at a women's alcohol and drug treatment center in Garden Valley has 16 women and children looking again for a place to stay.

The fire broke out at the Progress House at 5 a.m., fire investigators said. It started in electrical wiring in a bathroom and spread to the roof. Much of the roof is now burned out and it was just replaced four months ago at a cost of $60,000, center director Tom Avey told News10.

Progress House provides residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation treatment for pregnant women and women with children.
