Gayle Erbe-Hamlin Selected as El Dorado County CAO

(Placerville, Calif.)—The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors announced today the appointment of Gayle Erbe-Hamlin as the new Chief Administrative Officer.

“Gayle has the experience and skill to help the lead the county through some tough budget times ahead,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Rusty Dupray. “We were proud to make her our unanimous choice.”

Erbe-Hamlin has served as El Dorado County’s Interim Chief Administrative Officer since June of this year. She was previously the Director of the El Dorado County Public Health Department and has been employed there since 1985.

She received her B.A. in Social Sciences from the University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA) and a Masters of Public Administration degree from Pacific Lutheran University (Tacoma, WA). Her additional education includes a Post Graduate Certificate in Health Services Administration from the University of Southern California.

“I am pleased that the Board of Supervisors has expressed its confidence in me,” said Erbe-Hamlin. “El Dorado County has some significant challenges and opportunities in the future and I look forward to assisting the Board as they chart a new course.”

Under general policy direction of the Board of Supervisors and in accordance with county ordinances, the Chief Administrative Officer plans, organizes, coordinates and administers all County functions and activities, provides policy guidance and coordinates the activities of department heads. In addition, the Chief Administrative Officer has primary responsibility for the preparation and administration of the annual county budget.
