Jim Demmitt of Pollock Pines Speeds Excessively Well

Jim Demmitt of Pollock Pines, California, USA's 1990 Ford Thunderbird SC set a new record with a 10.659 @ 124.32 MPH quarter mile time.

West coast Ford drag racer Jim Demmitt Sr. had quite a history of cool Ford drag cars. Jim passed away in 2003, and his son, Jim Jr. is carrying on the Ford tradition for him. Jim, your running a standalone right ? you said you were never able to tune, but now you have the ability to.... im assuming that means you had a standlone put in? A standalone would let you tune to run meth also, right ?

I plan on being at the track the next time Jim goes. For one I would just like to see the car on the track again. Also would like to see the car pull the wheels up. I will be taking pic's and I'm working on getting a video cam. from a friend. This way if he beats his time again there will be footage of it. You've got my attention! I'd love to see an SC pull over 500 whp w/o nitrous! Jim you must have one hell of a powerful little 3.8L I bet you turn a lot of heads at the track when they find out it's just a little six cylinder.

You know what I just realized. You have the quickest SC, not the fastest. Neibert still has you by about 5 mph, no? You are technically still 3rd on the fastest.

Pro Mod 57tbird My dad did all the body work and paint engne setting the car up we got first place at Frezno special invite car show first place at Sacramento autorama and won the Eagle one Award. It was featured on Speedvision American Hot Rodder TV show 200mph 6 second Monster Kurt will be a part of our crew on that tbird once we get back on to it next season to run the West

That's an older Pro-Mod setup, but sweet. Look great. I built a turbo Pro-Mod motor, but my race car only has a cage spec'd at 6.50's. So I can run it yet. I've posted the picture of the motor a couple times, so you may have seen it. Makes 2950HP and is a Pontiac motor. No, not Pontiac-BBC stuff, actual Pontiac's. That wheelbase is too short. You really do have a handful there! The

when does this track open in the spring? There are 2 Air Force Bases near Sacremento so I might be able to come out one weekend and watch you run the bullet. Beale AFB and Travis AFB are out there, not sure which one is closest to the track though. If you get in the 9's I will try my best to come witness it run next time out so I can verify that yes I saw this car in person and it did run
