A Caltrans skip loader clears Highway 88 after a Tuesday morning accident. A 47-year-old Sutter Creek woman and her infant grandson escaped serious injury after a logging truck lost its load on the highway near Malfino Road. As the truck stirred up dirt on the road and came around a curve, Charolette Denise Gorremans said she could see the logs rolling toward her Buick LeSabre, the California Highway Patrol reported. She braked and swerved, but the logs struck and heavily damaged the front of her car. The truck driver was not hurt in the crash that occurred about 8 a.m. The woman suffered an injured foot and was taken to Sutter Amador Hospital where she and her 15-month-old grandson were examined. The baby bit his tongue, but otherwise wasn’t hurt, witnesses said. The CHP reported Highway 88 was closed for about two hours while the road was cleared.
