An El Dorado Hills couple died in a plane crash in Kentucky on Sunday, officials said.
Duane Watts, 57, and Jeanette Watts, 75, died when their single-engine plane crashed into a cornfield near Louisville, Ky., around 4:09 p.m. ET. They own a Bridal Mart in Rancho Cordova.
Duane Watts' sister, Wanda Fay Lupton, 66, and a 10-year-old child also were injured in the crash but survived, said Bullitt County coroner Tommy Kappel in a phone interview with The Bee on Monday morning.
Kappel did not identify the child. He said the family was visiting Duane Watts' brother, who lives in the area, when he tried landing the plane on a private, grassy airstrip.
