Pierre Rivas will preside as mayor of Placerville for the coming year. Mark Acuna was chosen as vice mayor.

Rivas, an El Dorado County planner, has served on the council since 2002. Elected mayor by fellow council members, he succeeds Roberta Colvin in the post.
