Pollock
Pines, Calif. -- A subdivision south of the El Dorado County town of Pollock Pines was evacuated Thursday because of a wildfire burning in the area, authorities said.
The subdivision, known as Sierra Springs, is located just west of Jenkinson
Reservoir.

All surrounding areas should be ready to evacuate at short notice. Voluntary evaculations remain in place as of 2:30 PM.

Animal Evacuations
Individuals affected by the fire can bring animals to the El
Dorado County Animal Control Shelter in Placerville at 511
Placerville Drive until 6:00 p.m. tonight. Provisions will also
be available at the fairgrounds for sheltering animals. South
County Large Animal Rescue and Noah's Wish were activated to
assist Animal Conrol with trailering and sheltering of animals

The blaze was burning in a southwest direction. About 40 structures were threatened, county authorities said.
The blaze, which broke out shortly before noon, burned about 20 acres.
Authorities said residents were ordered to leave homes on South Pine Tree Lane and Moon Flower Lane.
Starkes Grade Road, Shooting Star Road, Five Spot Road, Canchalagua Drive and Snowdrop Lane were under voluntary evacuations.
No structures have burned, but flames were within a mile or so of homes.
An evacuation center was set up at the fairgrounds in nearby Placerville.
