PLACERVILLE -- The El Dorado Irrigation District board has awarded a $6.58 million contract to Carter-Kelly Inc. to construct an annex to the district's customer services building on Mosquito Road in Placerville.
The annex is the second phase of a headquarters master plan and will house administrative offices.
Carter-Kelly, based in Placerville, submitted the lowest bid among six firms vying for the contract.
The board approved $8.58 million for the project, including $355,200 in construction contingency and approximately $1.65 million for project costs, including design, engineering, permits, administration relocation, hazardous materials abatement, furniture and equipment.
Construction is scheduled to begin Nov. 1 and the building is to be ready by the end of August.
The project's funding includes approximately $4.73 million in 1999 bond revenue and about $2.14 million from certificates of participation issued in 2003.
