Sheriff Dept Expands Online Reporting

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department is expanding the crimes that can be reported online.

Increasing the number and type of crimes that can be reported will allow patrol deputies to respond more efficiently to priority calls while enabling the public to report criminal activity, according to a news release.

Crimes that can be reported online include theft, vehicle burglary, identity theft, annoying phone calls, vandalism, lost property and Internet fraud.

The online crime reporting system should not be used for emergencies or crimes in progress, the release said. It should not be used to report these crimes: violent crimes, sexual misconduct, stolen vehicles, lost or stolen license plates, domestic violence and assaults and battery.

For more information about the online crime reporting system, go to www.edso.org.

New Age

What a waste of taxpayer money if they haven't. You'd think this would be a pretty easy way to save costs. Maybe the cities and counties laying cops off could learn from El Dorado County.
