A dog classified as vicious is being sought by authorities after its owner reportedly ignored a court order to relinquish the animal.
Hans Uthe, assistant district attorney for El Dorado County, said the dog, a Fila Brasileiro named "Duke," bit two people, including a 6-year-old boy in July.
"We feel this dog represents a significant risk to the community, Uthe said.
"This is a very, very large, powerful breed," he added.
The dog is owner by Pamela E. Thomas who was ordered by an El Dorado County Superior Court judge to either put the dog to sleep or relinquish it to a safe house on the North Shore, Uthe said.

Both bites were unprovoked, Uthe said. The dog bit the child in the chest and back.
"By God we have to get this dog off the street," Uthe said.
